First EVER Art Journal Entry

Hey ya Crafty Friends!

Okay, so if you remember from my other posts, one of my New Year's Resolutions was to try new things in the crafty world. Well after many pictures, one-on-one tutorials and lots of inspiration from a fellow DT gal - I decided to try Art Journaling.

Georgie from the Little Blue Craft Box has some gorgeous, and stunning art journal pages, and if you haven't checked them out - you ought to!

So here is what I came up with:

The page in it's entirety!

A close up on the beautiful image called "Green Goth Maiden" by Ching-Chou Kuik

I used the Theo butterfly die from Poppy Stamps to create a stencil and ending up adding a die cut too!

Here is the image by itself just colored. The Kit & Clowder Facebook group is having a Color Palette Challenge going on RIGHT NOW - and you get this lovely image for FREE! So the picture itself was entered into that challenge.

I used a vareity of teals, purples, and even some royal blue Apple Barrel Acrylic paints to create the background. I used a sponge to sponge white paint around the edges. I also used - BUBBLE WRAP - to create the dark blue texture  in the page. That was very new for me but I really liked the effect. The quote says "Blossom Like a Butterfly" - For me it was perfect not only for the image but for me at the moment as well. I'm "blossoming" as a crafter. I definitely had a lot of fun putting this one together and think I will continue to art journal a little more!

I hope you enjoyed this and I would love any and all feedback.

Clear it Out Challenge #60: Anything Goes

Happy Tuesday fellow crafters!

IT'S CHALLENGE TIME!
It's time for another challenge over at Clear it Out Challenges!
The goal with these challenges is to clear out your stash, you know the stuff you've been holding on to, or things that you just don't know what to do with? As well as have fun!

This week’s challenge:

Theme/Stash: Anything Goes

Our sponsor this week is:

I used the stunningly beautiful image called " Peacock Ethereal Enchantress" which you can purchase here!

What's a peacock without some boldy, brightly colored feathers?!

I have several crafty New Years Resolutions and some of them include:

- Improve coloring skills (HOPEFULLY by taking Kit & Clowder Classes)
- Branch out of my Creative Shell and dabble in different types of styles
-Finally try new techniques that I've always been to intimated to try.

This is a version of something I saw (probably on Pinterest) called "The Spot Light Effect" It's not much of a "spotlight" but she was just way to much fun to color that I couldn't bare to cut more of the colored image off! She was colored in with Spectrum Noir Markers AND Pencils. The pencils add such fine details to images that I think I will be using them A LOT more! I also attempted digital embossing, and I didn't quite get it. I think my printer dries the ink to quickly. Which under normal circumstances is such a blessing! If anyone has any tips on this technique I'd love to hear them!

The following items were used to create this card:

Blue/Turquoise/White Cardstock - Stash
Vellum - Paper Studio
Green Feathers - Stash
Silver Gel Pen
Stardust Pen
Spectrum Noir Markers & Pencils

I hope you all enjoy it!

If you need some inspiration for this challenge head on over to Clear it Out Challenges to check out what the other team members came up with as well! Now it's your turn! Join in the fun and don't forget to link your project to Clear It Out Challenges # 60: Anything Goes!
